What people are saying.

An unequivocally chilled-out and enthusiastic masterclass in Big Band virtuosity. The relaxed, understated style of their presentation is almost deceiving – these are some seriously talented musicians with a showcase of skill.
— Review of “The Ages” show.

Blown away by The All Girl Big Band at the Baycourt Theatre in Tauaranga last night. From the opening notes of “Gonna Fly Now” to the closing Aretha Franklin hit “Natural Woman”, the whole thing was a massive treat. A super diverse set list included something for everyone ……jazz, swing, pop, big band funk and a ballad or three! You name it, the All Girl Big Band played it. And remarkably, they played every genre well. The swing swung, the rock rocked, the ballads were lovely - especially “Over the Rainbow”, and the big band funk tunes were tight and foot tapping. Lana Law leads the band with obvious competence and grace, and she has an awesome manner with the crowd. It almost doesn’t seem fair to single out anything in such a cohesive act, but it would be remiss not to call out the killer trombone section - beautiful intonation and blend, underpinned by a bass trombone player that was was never strident but had that awesome growl in all the right places. Great show. Thanks for coming to the Tauranga festival.
